Day 8~Cat Street Market~Wan Chai

This morning we hopped onto a double decker bus and went in search of the Cat Street Market. The bus stops are very orderly, there are lines painted on the sidewalk with the bus number on the curb, and everyone stands single file on the line for their bus. It is such a contrast to the MTR, where is it a mad rush and some shoving. We got off the bus right in front of a great neighborhood park that had a playground, lots of shaded benches, and a koi pond. Of course we stopped to play, and the boys made some new friends.

Waiting for the return bus trip. Not one of the super orderly bus stops, but still more so than the MTR.

Eventually we wandered over to Cat Street. Usually our early rising pays off, but Hong Kong doesn't get rolling as early as we do, and there were only a couple of stalls open. Alex and Zachary loved shopping, but their excitement (and mine) made it difficult for Phil to haggle on the price. After shopping, we stopped at a cafe for a snack and then toured a neighborhood temple. The boys did an excellent job of being quiet and respectful. More shops were open so we strolled along the street, but didn't find anything else. The bus ride back was wild! We sat in the front on the top deck, so we had a bird's eye view of the narrow, twisty, crowded streets. Back at the hotel, the boys had a nap (2 in a row!) before hitting the pool and then we were back on the MTR headed to Wan Chai.

We wandered through the Convention Center, which is huge and finally found the way out to the Bauhinia sculpture.
For dinner we had some pretty authentic Chinese food. Alex and Zachary surprised us with their choices. The boys enjoyed watching the traffic, and the the buses at the bus stop right under the bridge.
